Ingredients for UP Style Lapsi
- 1 Cup broken wheat/dalia
- 2 cups water
- 2 tbsp ghee
- 2 cardamoms, crushed
- 1 tbsp cashew nuts, broken
- 1 tbsp sliced almonds
- Jaggery, as per taste
How to Prepare
- Heat ghee in a pan (kadhai) and add the dalia. Roast for 2-3 minutes until it turns golden brown.
- Transfer the roasted dalia to a bowl and let it cool.
- In the same pan, add jaggery and water. Cook until it forms a runny syrup.
- Add crushed cardamom or cardamom powder to the syrup and bring it to a boil.
- Slowly add the dalia into the syrup, stirring well.
- Add half of the desiccated coconut and mix everything together.
- Cook on low heat for about 20 minutes until the lapsi starts releasing ghee.
- Once the desired texture is reached, turn off the heat and transfer the lapsi to a serving bowl.
- Garnish with nuts and serve hot.
