Ingredients of Masala Tomato Upma

  1. 1 Cups Suji
  2. 1 Onion, chopped
  3. 2 tbsp Oil
  4. 1/2 cup Tomato Puree
  5. 1 Tomato , chopped
  6. Carrot, Capsicum, Peas, Mix veg one cup
  7. 1/2 tsp Red chilli Powder
  8. 1/2 tsp Turmeric
  9. 1/2 tsp Coriander powder
  10. tsp Salt
  11. 1/2 tsp Cumin
  12. 1 tsp Mustard Seed
  13. 6-7 Curry leaves
  14. 1 tsp Desi Ghee
  15. 1 tbsp Coriander leaves, finely chopped

How to Prepare

  • Heat a pan and dry roast one cup of suji for a few minutes, then set it aside on a plate.
  • In the same pan, heat 2 tablespoons of oil, add mustard seeds, urad dal, and cumin seeds (jeera), and saute.
  • Add one chopped onion and Saute until translucent. Stir in one finely chopped green chili, ginger, and optional vegetables like peas, capsicum, and carrots.
  • Next, add half a cup of tomato puree and one chopped tomato. Cook for 2 minutes.
  • Add red chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder, and salt to taste.
  • Pour in 3 cups of water and bring it to a boil. Add a small spoon of ghee, then cover and let it cook.
  • After a minute, open the lid and slowly add the suji in batches, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
  • Mix well, then add a few drops of lemon juice and garnish with chopped coriander leaves. Your delicious masala tomato upma is ready to serve!
