Hyderabadi Veg Dalcha Recipe Ingredients

  1. 1.5 lauki
  2. 1/2 chana dal
  3. 1 onion, finely chopped
  4. 2 tomatoes, chopped
  5. 1 green chilli, finely chopped
  6. 1/2 tsp haldi
  7. 1/2 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
  8. 1 tsp garam masala
  9. 1-inch ginger
  10. 1 tsp jeera
  11. 1-inch imli (tamarind)
  12. 1.5 tsp ghee
  13. Salt, to taste
  14. 1/2 water
  15. 1 tsp coriander leaves, finely chopped

How to Prepare

  1. Start by washing the chana dal thoroughly and soaking it in water for 30-40 minutes. Once soaked, drain the water and set the dal aside.
  2. Heat some oil in a pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds (jeera) and finely chopped onions Saute the onions until they turn translucent.
  3. Next, add green chilies, ginger, and tomatoes along with the dry spices. Cook the mixture, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes soften and the masala releases oil.
  4. Add the soaked chana dal, followed by chopped lauki (bottle gourd), tamarind (imli), and salt. Pour in water, mix well, and cover the pressure cooker. Cook on high heat for 3-4 whistles.
  5. Once the pressure releases, open the lid and garnish the dish with fresh coriander leaves. Serve hot and enjoy!
