Hyderabadi Veg Dalcha Recipe Ingredients
- 1.5 lauki
- 1/2 chana dal
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 green chilli, finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp haldi
- 1/2 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1-inch ginger
- 1 tsp jeera
- 1-inch imli (tamarind)
- 1.5 tsp ghee
- Salt, to taste
- 1/2 water
- 1 tsp coriander leaves, finely chopped
How to Prepare
- Start by washing the chana dal thoroughly and soaking it in water for 30-40 minutes. Once soaked, drain the water and set the dal aside.
- Heat some oil in a pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds (jeera) and finely chopped onions Saute the onions until they turn translucent.
- Next, add green chilies, ginger, and tomatoes along with the dry spices. Cook the mixture, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes soften and the masala releases oil.
- Add the soaked chana dal, followed by chopped lauki (bottle gourd), tamarind (imli), and salt. Pour in water, mix well, and cover the pressure cooker. Cook on high heat for 3-4 whistles.
- Once the pressure releases, open the lid and garnish the dish with fresh coriander leaves. Serve hot and enjoy!
