Ingredients of Masoor Dal Khichdi
- 1 Cup masoor dal
- 1 cup rice
- 4 cups water
- 1 Onion, finely chopped
- 1 Tomato, finely chopped
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp haldi
- 1 tsp garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp ghee
- Fresh coriander leaves (for garnish)
How to Prepare
- Start by rinsing the masoor dal and rice separately under running water until the water is clear. Soak them for about 30 minutes.
- Heat ghee in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and Saute until golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and Saute for another minute. Then, add chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften.
- Drain the soaked dal and rice, and add them to the cooker.
- Add turmeric, garam masala, and salt, mixing well. Pour in 4 cups of water and combine everything.
- Close the lid and cook on high for two whistles. Reduce the heat and let it cook for 10 more minutes.
- Stir the khichdi, garnish with coriander leaves, and serve hot. Enjoy!
