Soya Chana Dal Bhurji Recipe Ingredients

  1. 1 Cup Soya granules (soaked and squeezed)
  2. 1/2 cup Chana Dal (soaked)
  3. 1/4 tsp Hing
  4. 2 tbsp Oil
  5. 1 tsp Ginger-garlic paste
  6. 1 tsp Red chili powder
  7. 2 tsp Coriander powder
  8. 1/2 tsp Turmeric
  9. 1 tsp Cumin powder
  10. to taste Salt
  11. 1 large Onion, finely chopped
  12. 1 Tomato, finely chopped
  13. 1 Green chillies, finely chopped
  14. 1 whole dry red chili
  15. 2 tbsp Coriander leaves, finely chopped
  16. 1 tsp Lemon Juice

How to Prepare

  1. Soak the chana dal for at least 30 minutes. (Alternatively, pressure cook the dal with 3 whistles to reduce cooking time for the Bhurji.)
  2. Heat oil in a pan, add dry red chilies and finely chopped onions. Saute until the onions turn translucent.
  3. Add asafoetida and green chilies, then fry the soya granules with the onions and oil to eliminate the raw flavor.
  4. Stir in chopped tomatoes and cook for a few minutes. Drain the soaked dal, add it to the pan, and mix well.
  5. Season the Bhurji with red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric, and salt. Stir continuously and add a little water if needed.
  6. Cook on low flame for a few minutes, then finish with a squeeze of lemon juice. Serve with roti or paratha for a delicious meal.
